Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds worked with the team at Wonderland Nature School to create a sensory-rich outdoor learning environment for their childcare space.

Located in Gunnison, Colorado this small preschool is adjacent to a senior center providing meaningful collaboration opportunities between the generations. The outdoor space is divided into two areas; one for infants and one or preschoolers. A large shade tree provides summer reprieve for both spaces. Bienenstock provided support to the school while they procured grant funding, completed the design which included 3-D renders and construction documents, and will begin construction summer of 2023. Bienenstock renovated the space to provide two fine motor sand areas, decking with creative panels for imaginative play, and wacky posts for fort building. Care was taken to ensure minimal impact to the existing tree.
