Project Background, Public Input and Goals:
St, Charles Place Park was initially a revitalization project; taking an underutilized urban space (underserving its surrounding community) and converting it into an area for the community to engage their senses and harness the developmental power of nature. A youth ambassador group was developed from within the community and put to task as the keystone of the development committee.
The group invested three years into guiding the project from inception, design to completion, as well as leading community outreach for their new outdoor space. It was an honor to work alongside them and the rest of the team from Valerian LLC, Denver Parks and Recreation, Denver Park Trust and Industry Denver. The community also came together to plant shrubs and flowers for the re-opening of the “new” St. Charles Place Park.
