Overview:
Rising Oaks – Oak Creek is part of a growing childcare community where the natural play space is considered a vital extension of the classroom. The goal for this playground was to create a natural, developmentally supportive space that reflects the center’s commitment to learning. Key Features the Oak Creek playground integrates nature-based play throughout the space, providing a welcoming and sensory-rich environment for young children.
Each play zone was intentionally designed to support exploration, creativity, movement, and social connection. Signature elements include:
- A custom log climber that encourages gross motor development and confidence-building.
- Sand play areas for tactile exploration, imaginative play, and early fine motor development.
- A log tunnel that creates opportunities for crawling, quiet retreat, and dramatic play.
- Water features that support hands-on learning, cause-and-effect discovery, and sensory engagement.
- Accessible pathways that connect zones and invite movement through the landscape.
- Serviceberry trees that provide shade, seasonal interest, and opportunities for nature observation.
Together, these elements form a cohesive outdoor environment where children can explore, collaborate, and build a meaningful connection to the natural world.
