This project began with a simple conversation and grew into something more.
New Dimensions in the metro St. John’s area reached out with a clear goal. To create a meaningful outdoor space for the children and families she supports every day.
Through that initial outreach, a partnership took shape. What began as a focus on a single log climber quickly evolved into something more – to create a space that supports all types of play from gross motor and physical play to quiet contemplative and creative play.
A climber supports older children as they build strength and confidence. A sand area invites sensory exploration and quieter moments. A small hill was intentionally kept, offering opportunities for movement throughout the year, from climbing to sledding in the winter. There is also space for gathering, where children can perform, dance, and express themselves freely.
Each element feels connected to real use. Open ended, flexible, and responsive to the seasons.
Rooted in a strong commitment to nurturing, educating, and enriching children in partnership with their families, this project is an extension of something larger.
What started as a simple outreach has become a space that supports children in building confidence, independence, and growth.
