Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds worked with the team at Holy Name of Jesus and Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic Child Care Centres to create a sensory-rich natural outdoor play space within the confines of what once was a paved outdoor play area.

The Bienenstock team was able to help Holy Name of Jesus transform the space from a barren, denuded asphalt pad to a sensory-rich environment, complete with natural surfaces and child development opportunities.

The space features our robust log tree fort, early learning pods complete with plantings, chalkboard panels for contemplative and creative engagement, log tunnels, log clusters and log borders for both gross and fine motor play, and both flora & organic surfaces that provide children with loose parts throughout the seasons. The outdoor environment at Holy Name of Jesus now represents a veritable smorgasbord of unstructured child-led play opportunities where imaginations can go wild and both creativity & innovation are promoted.
