Overview:
A French Elementary school that challenged us to incorporate multiple sites featuring wetlands, boardwalks, gross-motor challenges and various social settings.
Ecole Bois-Joli is a French Elementary school in Dartmouth, N.S. that boasts a beautiful site and unique natural design solutions. Focused on creating a comprehensive vision for the space, the proposed natural playground creates a variety of social settings, play opportunities and rich sensory engagement across a large footprint. With grading/drainage and lack of shade being two of the biggest issues with the site, the design focuses on addressing these through naturalizing the area with a rich plant palette and creative topographic manipulation.
