Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds worked with the team at Brightpath Manotick Child Care Centre to create a sensory-rich outdoor learning environment for their child care space. Located in Manotick, a suburb of Ottawa, the outdoor space at this child care centre is chalk-full of sensory engagement opportunities. Centered around the planted OutClass™ early learning pod, the space lights-up with foliage when its Serviceberries are in bloom. When the season’s change, the planted material presents a very different experience in the form of loose parts for creative interaction. The large, textured log border, complete with border component pieces provides a first-rate motor planning and risk assessment environment for children to run, jump and climb, while the sand area and outdoor chalkboard present opportunities for both structured, and unstructured, outdoor learning and creative play.
