Apple Jacks Preschool
Overview:
Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds worked with Cassie St. Amanda, Owner and director at Apple Jacks Preschool to create a sensory-rich, truly accessible natural outdoor playspace that follows the Reggio Emilia approach where children are invited to lead their own learning in a connected, engaging, and warm environment.
We hold a shared belief that all children are curious, creative, and capable humans rich with potential. Apple Jacks Preschool follows an open, nature-based curriculum that progresses based on the interests and inquiries of the children attending and requires space to reflect this and allow for programming heavily focused on child-led unstructured play.
Our design and install teams worked with St. Amand to create a space rich in sensory engagement, textures, organic surfaces & non-prescriptive components. We included sand and water play areas, complete with a water trough, mud kitchens and stump activity tables. Acrylic panels and chalkboards were included for creative play, a hanging amadinda, stump seats, a curriculum cabinet for supply storage and a double hill slide cap off the natural wonderland at Apple Jacks Preschool.
