The challenge we focused on with this project was the combination of limited space and maintaining the mature trees already on-site on that were provided much needed shade for the property. Through the design and construction process we were able to carefully work around the Honey Locust trees to create a variety of play spaces, interesting circulation loops and more plant material – resulting in a significant increase in rich sensory experiences. The Glenridge location offers a delightful mix of sensory engagement, creative & social development opportunities, fine and gross motor challenges and a host of child-led unstructured play components. This campus us highlighted by its large sand & water play area, mud kitchen, curriculum cabinets and natural instrument section. The children here are constantly engaged and the educators at ACW child care couldn’t be happier.
